INESC TEC technology takes to the high seas
Imagine if a ship of passengers runs a ground or sinks on the high sea and the weather conditions do not permit search and rescue teams to save the victims. One solution could be to use autonomous robots to support the search and rescue teams in this type of disaster. Project ICARUS (Integrated Components for Assisted Rescue and Unmanned Search operations) is exactly this. The project is run by a consortium of 24 European partners, including INESC TEC. The project is in the area of security and will involve two INESC TEC Units, once again showing INESC TEC’s potential in maritime robotics.
