State University “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” joins INESC Brazil Network

The State University “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” (UNESP) is the most recent member of the INESC Brazil Network, a cooperation for research, development and innovation managed by INESC P&D Brasil (IB, INESC R&D Brazil). This was confirmed at the agreement signing ceremony, at the Reitoria of UNESP, in São Paulo, which welcomed the University’s Vice-President Marilza Cunha Rudge, and the Director-President of INESC P&D Brasil, Vladimiro Miranda.

UNESP is one of the largest and most important universities in Brazil, developing worldwide renowned research in various areas of expertise. This is a university with several campi, held by the government of the state of São Paulo.

The University, which plays a fundamental role in science and technology in the state of São Paulo, is present in 24 different cities, together with UNICAMP (State University of Campinas), already member of the INESC Brazil Network, and USP (University of São Paulo). The three universities complete the research, development and innovation potential of the highest revenue per capita state in Brazil. Joining the INESC Brazil Network is yet another step towards consolidating IB, now in its home state of São Paulo.

Earning the trust of universities such as UNESP and UNICAMP is important to strengthen IB’s mission to promote scientific and technological progress in Brazil and international cooperation in areas such as IT, energy, communication and similar sciences, by implementing multidisciplinary projects developed in consortium, similarly to the projects promoted as part of the European Union’s framework programme.
