New governing model and generational renewal at INESC TEC

On 8 June, the new Associate Bodies of INESC TEC were elected as part of the General Council Meeting.
As a result of this meeting, the Board of INESC TEC  now welcomes new members. The Board is now composed of the following members: José Manuel Mendonça (Chairman) Mário Jorge Leitão, João Peças Lopes, Vladimiro Miranda, and five new members, Luís Carneiro, Gabriel David, João Claro, Bernardo Almada Lobo and Rui Oliveira. The Scientific Council also includes Lia Patrício, João José Pinto Ferreira and João Barroso as new members, and Manuel Matos maintains his position as Chairman of the Scientific Council.

An Executive Board has also been created, with José Manuel Mendonça as Chairman, and Mário Jorge Leitão and Luís Carneiro as Members of the Executive Board.

The General Council also underwent some changes: Rosário Gambôa, President of the IPP, becomes First Secretary. The Chairman of the General Council, Sebastião Feyo de Azevedo (President of the University of Porto), and the Second Secretary, António Ferreira (FEUP), maintain their positions.

In a message sent to all INESC TEC collaborators, José Manuel Mendonça stated that “With this change in our governing model, we wanted to introduce new generations to our management bodies. Indirectly, we hope that this change also leads to the emergence and empowerment of the people who will be leading the R&D Units, which are now officially called Centres.” In the same message, the Chairman of INESC TEC also took a moment to thank Artur Pimenta Alves who now leaves office after serving on the Board temporarily.
