INESC TEC technology highlighted at EMAF 2012

From 21 to 24 November, INESC TEC participated in the 14th edition of EMAF - International Trade Fair for Machinery, Equipment and Services Industry, which took place at Exponor in Porto. At this Fair, INESC TEC highlighted the areas of manufacturing and logistics, robotics and intelligent systems, and optoelectronics in a booth shared with the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Management (INEGI), thus strengthening the relationship between the institutions.

At the exhibition, which was visited by dozens of industry professionals, the technology highlighted was the automated vehicle SmartAGV - Smart Automated Guided Vehicle, which aims at transporting materials in industrial environments, and the SMARTPAINT, which was the result of project SIIARI and based on a patent held by the University of Porto. INESC TEC was represented by members of the Manufacturing Systems Engineering Unit (UESP), the Robotics and Intelligent Systems Unit (ROBIS) and Optoelectronics and Electronic Systems Unit (UOSE).

"Participating in events like EMAF confirms INESC TEC’s effort to stand out in industry and to expand its network of contacts."

• Filipe Magalhães (Optoelectronics and Electronic Systems Unit - UOSE)
"I think that it is extremely positive for INESC TEC to be represented at events like EMAF. However, even though I recognise that this can be tricky, I think efforts should be combined to create a set of demonstrators to make it possible to attract both the attention of visitors and to showcase our skills. Maybe this way we can "win" the visitors and then present them with the details of our activities, which were listed in the flyers, for example."
