INESC TEC researcher is associate editor of journal on audio, speech, and language processing

At INESC TEC since 2011, the researcher works in music information retrieval, with a particular emphasis on the analysis of rhythm in music. Matthew Davies confesses that he had been hoping to work as associate editor for some time and believes that this may be an important step to his professional growth. “I am very pleased with this opportunity to contribute to the audio signal processing research community. It is also an excellent time to be aware of the state of the art in areas besides my main area of expertise as I’ll be coordinating the review process,” he states.

The researcher also added that this will be a “good vehicle to disseminate to the international community the work developed at INESC TEC in general, and at CTM in particular.” Among other tasks, Matthew Davies will be selecting reviewers for the articles and decide whether the articles are to be rejected or accepted for publication.

The IEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio, Speech and Language Processing is one of the most important journals in the field, owned by the IEEE Signal Processing Society and the Association for Computing Machinery. It covers topics such as music analysis and coding, speech analysis, speech recognition, text and speech analysis, translation and machine learning.
