INESC R&D Brazil marks two years of activity

This month, INESC R&D Brazil marks two years of activity. At the Annual General Meeting, which took place on 14 April in São Paulo, the representatives presented and discussed the annual report for the year 2013, the strategic plan and activities for 2014 and the budget for 2015.

After two years of activity, INESC R&D Brazil has a defined organisational structure, “which is an important step forward towards fulfilling a goal left for this year,” stated the director of INESC R&D Brazil, Mauro Rosa. Moreover, the INESC Brazil Network is now consolidated, as a significant number of Brazilian universities have joined the network, thus “giving credibility to the project,” he added.

Last year, INESC R&D Brazil received official recognition from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) in Brazil, which means that the institution is acknowledged by the Brazilian Federal Government an institution of science and technology in Brazil.

For this year, the expectation is that the groundwork and the contractual relationships established bring “growth and consolidation, with a background of financial sustainability,” says Mauro Rosa.

INESC R&D Brazil’s Annual General Meeting included current Directors Alexandre Rocco, Mauro Rosa and Vladimiro Miranda; João Peças Lopes, Director of INESC Porto, Paula Albuquerque, Secretary of INESC R&D Brazil; the legal experts Tatiana Lopes Balula and Vera Lúcia Mautone, and finally Paula Faria, president INESC R&D Brazil’s Supervisory Council.

The INESC TEC researchers mentioned in this article are associated with the following partner institutions: INESC Porto and FEUP.
